Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to three fires early this afternoon.
Panet Road fire
At 1:36 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, WFPS crews responded to reports of smoke in a three-storey apartment building in the 600 block of Panet Road.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke in the building and located a fire on the roof. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews ventilated the smoke from the building.
Residents of the building were able to shelter in place in their suites. No injuries were reported.
Based on preliminary observations, the fire is believed to be accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Ravelston Avenue West fire
At 1:44 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey, single-family home in the 200 block of Ravelston Avenue West.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke coming from the house. They entered and launched an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:44 p.m.
All occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Three individuals were assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.
Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Worthington Avenue fire
At 2:32 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 0 to 100 block of Worthington Avenue.
When crews got to the scene, they found smoke coming from the house. They entered and quickly worked to extinguish the fire. The fire was declared under control at 3:08 p.m.
One individual was transported in to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.
The incident is under investigation. Damage estimates are not currently available.
