Winnipeg, MB – At 7:34 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey house in the 200 block of Guildford Street.
When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke inside the structure. They fought the fire from inside, declaring the fire under control at 8:05 a.m.
Occupants of the house safely self-evacuated with their dog. They were not injured. Firefighters located a pet snake deceased in the house.
Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by faulty electrical equipment. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
