Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:39 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke coming from the structure. They initially fought the fire from the exterior, but once some of the flames were knocked down, they were able to enter to fully extinguish the fire. The fire was declared under control at 1:52 p.m.

Crews located one individual in the house and brought them to safety. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
