Winnipeg, MB – At 12:53 p.m. on Thursday, November 23, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 700 block of Flora Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found the house engulfed in smoke and flames. They initially launched an interior fire attack, but due to deteriorating conditions crews were forced to exit the house and transition to a defensive fire attack. Aerial and thermal imaging views from the WFPS drone were used to help direct water streams and locate hotspots. The fire was declared under control at 2:20 p.m. and crews were once again able to enter the structure to complete extinguishment of the fire.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time but the house is considered to be a complete loss.
Arlington Street between Selkirk Avenue and Stella Avenue is closed. It’s likely closures will remain in effect through the afternoon rush hour.
