Released: October 30, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:18 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in an attached garage on Promenade Des Intrepides.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found a well-involved fire with flames extending to the house. They launched an offensive attack, but were forced to exit the house and transition to a defensive attack using an aerial ladder due to deteriorating conditions. Once some of the flames were knocked down, crews were able to re-enter the home to fully extinguish the fire. The fire was declared under control at 11:59 p.m.

Occupants of the home safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Firefighters found two cats in the residence and brought them to safety.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. At this time, damage estimates are not available. The house sustained significant smoke, fire, and water damage.
