Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Stella Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:21 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Stella Avenue.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. They initially launched a defensive attack and once conditions improved transitioned to an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:03 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the house and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available, but the house is believed to be a complete loss having sustained damage in previous fires in January 2023 and May 2022.
