Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Toronto Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:22 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, single-storey house in the 200 block of Toronto Street.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke coming from the house. They entered and launched an offensive fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:05 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the house and no occupants were located. Residents from the two neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. A Winnipeg Transit bus was deployed to the scene to provide them shelter until they were able to return to their homes. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
