Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Niagara Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:17 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a vehicle fire outside a two-storey, multi-family residence in the 100 block of Niagara Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they found several vehicles engulfed in flames. While working to extinguish the fire, crews discovered the fire had spread to the residence. Crews fought the fire from inside the building and declared the fire under control at 11:24 p.m.

Most occupants self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Those who remained were evacuated by firefighters. No injuries were reported. A Winnipeg Transit bus was deployed to the scene to provide shelter for the residents. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team helped displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
