Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey commercial building in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When they arrived to the scene, crews found smoke and flames coming from the structure. They applied water from the exterior of the building and then entered and attacked the fire from inside. The fire was declared under control at 8:07 p.m.

Firefighters completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
