Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:09 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey hotel in the 700 block of Main Street.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke in the building. A fire was located in one of the suites. It had been kept under control by the building’s sprinkler system. Crews were quickly able to extinguish the remaining hot spots.

No injuries were reported. While fire damage was minimal, the building sustained significant water damage. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team helped approximately 15 displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
