Winnipeg, MB – At 11:58 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant industrial building on Sutherland Avenue between Maple Street North and Argyle Avenue.
The building was previously gutted by a fire on July 4, 2023. At that time, WFPS deemed the building to be a complete loss due to extreme fire, smoke and water damage that left it partially collapsed. Sections of the building were demolished in that incident to assist firefighters in accessing hotspots to extinguish the fire.
When crews arrived at the scene today, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from parts of the structure. Due to conditions of the structure, crews were not able to make entry. They launched a fire attack from the exterior, using aerial ladders to apply water to the fire. The fire was extinguished and crews cleared the scene shortly after 4 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
