Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire in vacant house on Austin Street North

At 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 200 block of Austin Street North.

At the scene, crews saw smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from the inside, declaring the fire under control at 2:49 a.m.

Three firefighters sustained minor injuries and paramedics transported two firefighters to hospital in stable condition. Paramedics assessed one firefighter who did not require transportation to hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
