Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a structure fire on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:41 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a hotel in the 700 block of Main Street. Due to the high life safety risk associated with a high-rise building, additional crews and apparatus responded.

At the scene, crews found light smoke. Firefighters evacuated people who were inside the building, and attacked the fire from the inside. Crews declared the fire under control at 7:53 a.m.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team responded to the scene to help 14 residents find temporary housing.

No damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
