Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Kennedy Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:18 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in an apartment building in the 400 block of Kennedy Street. Due to the life safety concerns associated with a high-rise residential building, crews called a second alarm and more units were dispatched to the scene.

At the scene, firefighters quickly located the fire and extinguished it, declaring the fire under control at 2:46 p.m. Firefighters searched the building to ensure the fire had not spread.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available. Some parts of the building sustained damage from the fire and smoke.
