Winnipeg, MB – At 5:08 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a structure fire in an industrial building on Sutherland Avenue between Maple Street North and Argyle Street North.
A third alarm was called because of the size of the fire, which means three complements (three aerial ladders, and up to 15 other apparatus or vehicles) were dispatched to the scene.
Crews are working to ensure the fire stays contained to the building and is extinguished safely. This incident will be ongoing well into the day.
Residents who live nearby are advised to close their windows to protect their home’s air quality.
Sutherland Avenue between Maple Street North and Argyle Street North will be closed with no access throughout the morning. Other nearby roadways may be temporarily affected throughout the day.
Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
