Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to four structure fires last night

Winnipeg, MB – Last night, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to four structure fires in Winnipeg.

Super 8 Motel – Niakwa Road East

At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, WFPS responded to reports of a fire at the Super 8 Motel in the 1400 block of Niakwa Road East.

At the scene, crews saw smoke in the building. All occupants safely self-evacuated from the building.

Paramedics treated and transported one person to hospital in stable condition. No damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters attacked the fire from the inside, declaring it under control at 6:48 p.m.

Holiday Inn South – Pembina Highway

At 7:53 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, WFPS responded to an automatic alarm indicating a fire at the Holiday Inn South in the 1300 block of Pembina Highway.

At the scene, crews found smoke in the building. Firefighters ensured the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Pacific Avenue

At 1:40 a.m. at July 2, 2023, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a duplex in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue.

Firefighters arrived on scene and attacked the fire from inside the building, declaring it under control at 2:24 a.m.

Paramedics assessed two patients and transported one person to hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Baylor Avenue

At 3:48 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023, WFPS responded to a fire in a two-storey side-by-side in the 100 block of Baylor Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw smoke coming from the home. Firefighters attacked the fire from the inside, declaring it under control at 4:37 a.m.

Paramedics transported one patient hospital in stable condition. Firefighters also searched for and found a dog and two cats inside the house. The City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency responded to assist the pets.
