Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires this evening.
Sargent Avenue fire
At 8:26 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, WFPS crews responded to a monitored fire alarm in a three-storey apartment block in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, they found smoke coming from the building. They entered and fought the fire from the interior, while also evacuating residents. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not currently available.
Nairn Avenue fire
At 7:29 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey commercial building in the 300 block of Nairn Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found fire coming from the structure. They attacked the fire and quickly brought it under control, limiting damage to the exterior of the building.
There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
