Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:02 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment block in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke coming from the building. They entered and fought the fire from inside, while also evacuating residents. The fire was declared under control at 6:24 a.m. Damages were mostly contained to the suite where the fire originated.

No injuries were reported. The City’s Emergency Social Services team assisted displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not currently available.
