Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Pritchard Avenue

Released: January 1, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:21 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home in the 500 block of Pritchard Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the home. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house, declaring the fire under control by 3:09 p.m.

Everyone safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. Paramedics assessed one patient and no transportation to hospital was required. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team responded to the scene to help 4 residents find alternate accommodations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
