Released: June 20, 2020 at 10:23 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:08 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a house fire in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy flames and smoke coming from the home.

Crews used aerial ladders to launch a defensive attack and to protect neighbouring homes from the spread of flames.

No injuries were reported. Neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution, and evacuated residents are expected to be able to return to their homes after crews complete their work on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available, but the home is expected to be a total loss.
