Winnipeg, MB – Today, Mayor Bowman announced the honourary renaming of Chancellor Matheson Road between University Crescent and Pembina Highway as "Grey Cup Champions Way" in recognition of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' Grey Cup victory over the weekend.
“Winnerpeg is bursting with excitement and we’re incredibly grateful to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for ending the Grey Cup drought and bringing it home to Winnipeg,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “The honourary street renaming will remind Winnipeggers of this victory for years to come while this season's historic playoff run will live on in memories of Winnipeggers forever!
The Winnipeg Football Club is an incredible community organization who adds to our community in many ways off the field through their programs such as Bombers Tackle Bullying, Hit the Books, Break the Silence on Violence Against Women and the Jack Jacobs Football Scholarship. They’re also heavily involved in Youth Football in Winnipeg and help contribute to many charity causes across our city.

“With this year’s Grey Cup championship marking the first Grey Cup win for Winnipeg in 29 years, our city is so proud of this historic achievement,” said Mayor Bowman.
Honourary “Grey Cup Champions Way” signs will be installed later this week and will remain in place for the next five years after which they will be donated to the Bombers organization.
