Hamilton Meadows Drive Fire
Winnipeg, MB – At 3:03 p.m. on February 10, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire a two-storey, single family residence in the 0-100 block of Hamilton Meadows Drive. Once on scene crews found a well-involved fire extending from the attached garage into the home.
An offensive attack was initially launched but poor conditions forced crews to retreat and move to an exterior defensive strategy. Once some of the fire was knocked down, crews were once again able to move to an offensive strategy, bringing the fire under control at 5:53 p.m.
All occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Main Street Fire
At 5:17 p.m., WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a restaurant in the 1400-block of Main Street. Once on scene crews found a well-involved, with flames extending through the roof. An offensive attack was initially launched but dangerous conditions, with high heat and heavy smoke forced crews to retreat and move to an exterior defensive strategy. Unable to enter the structure, it is expected crews will be on scene well into the evening, extinguishing this fire.
All occupants of the commercial building self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries have been reported at time.
The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Traffic in this area will be impacted until crews clear this scene. Drivers are asked to avoid this area.
Maryland Street Fire
At 5:20 p.m. WFPS crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire in the 600-block of Maryland Street. Upon arrival crews found the fire had spread to an adjacent garage. It was quickly knocked down and declared under control at 5:35 p.m.
No injuries were reported. The cause of this fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
