Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Cross Creek Place and St. Jean Baptiste Street Fires

Winnipeg, MB – Cross Creek Place Fire

At approximately 5:50 p.m. on January 13, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a garage fire in a single family home with an attached garage in the 400 block of Cross Creek Place. Upon arrival, crews declared a working fire and initiated an offensive attack. The fire was quickly declared under control at 6:28 p.m. The garage suffered significant fire damage and the rest of the house suffered smoke damage throughout.

Occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to crews arrival on scene. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.

St Jean Baptiste Fire

At approximately 6:25 p.m. on January 13, 2019, WFPS crews responded to a 911 call reporting a kitchen fire in a multi-family residence in the 500 block of St. Jean Baptiste Street. Upon arrival, crews launched an interior, offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 7:06 p.m.

All occupants of the complex had self-evacuated prior to crews arrival. Two occupants of the impacted suite were assessed on scene by paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time. The occupants of the impacted suite and one additional suite are displaced as a result of fire, smoke and water damage. The WFPS does not have a timeline on when repairs will be complete in order for them to return home.
