Winnipeg, MB – At 2:16 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a two-storey home in the 0-100 block of Prince Edward Street. Upon arrival, crews found the home engulfed in fire, with significant flames and smoke on all levels. A defensive attack was launched as it was unsafe for crews to enter the home.
Two occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to crews’ arrival. One was transported to hospital in critical condition, the other in unstable condition. Crews will remain on scene for several more hours working to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire will be under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.

Maryland Street Fire
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, WFPS crews responded to reports of fire in a vacant two-storey apartment block in the 400 block of Maryland Street. Upon arrival, crews confirmed fire on the second floor. An offensive strategy was launched, with crews deployed into the structure, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
One firefighter was injured on scene and transported to hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
