Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update: Dawson Road Fire

Released: September 19, 2018 at 2 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:16 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at an industrial building in the 500 block of Dawson Road North. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and a working fire. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene.

In total, approximately 20 WFPS apparatus assisted with the response to this fire. The attack took some time as the fire was in an area of the building difficult to reach. It was declared under control at 12:46 p.m.

All employees were safely evacuated from the building. No injuries were reported.

Traffic on Dawson Road and Marion Street should return to normal later this afternoon.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
