Burning Glass Road Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:38 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a four-storey apartment building in the 200 block of Burning Glass Road. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire and declared a second alarm in order to increase the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene.

The fire was quickly knocked down thanks in part to the building’s sprinkler system which helped control the fire before crews’ arrival. One occupant was transported to hospital in unstable condition. A second was assessed and treated on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.

Hazmat Incident

At 8:50 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018, WFPS crews responded to a call in the 100 block of Dysart Road regarding the potentially dangerous reaction of chemical solutions. On arrival Hazmat crews entered the building in full protective suits and removed the hazardous materials to a safe location. The building was checked for air quality and found to be safe.
