Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is breaking ground today on improvements at both Durham Park and Agate Park, which will see new play structures built at each location in the Windsor Park area.
“Maintaining and improving neighbourhood playgrounds makes a positive impact on the quality of life for families and area residents,” said Councillor Matt Allard (St. Boniface). “Residents have said new play structures, improved seating areas and safety are their top priorities for Durham Park and Agate Park. I am pleased that the City is acting on this feedback and improving recreational opportunities in Windsor Park.”
The City invited the public for their input in determining future park enhancements at Durham Park (57 Duluth Bay) and Agate Park (33 Argonne Bay). The public was provided an opportunity to participate through an online survey and at an in-person workshop.
The new improvements at each site include:
- Play structures for children aged 2-12
- Accessible swing sets
- Benches and picnic tables
- Upgrades to pathways in each park
- Fencing added at Agate Park to delineate the edge of the park
The City is investing $210,000 to redevelop these two parks through the 2018 Parks and Recreation Enhancement Program.
