City of Winnipeg spray pads to open for May long weekend

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to enjoy community spray pads as some will open earlier than expected, on the May long weekend, Saturday, May 19.

“Summer fun has come early this year,” said Mike Pagtakhan, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services and Parks. “Winnipeg is fortunate to have 18 spray pad locations throughout the city, offering enjoyment to each community. I hope people of all ages will take pleasure in these family-friendly amenities in the coming summer months.”

Spray Pads

Beginning on Saturday, May 19, 13 spray pads will open and operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week until September 3 at the following locations:

Central Corydon Community Centre - River Heights Site
Central Park
Jill Officer Park
Machray Park
Park City West Community Centre
Provencher Park
Shaughnessy Park
St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool
St. Norbert Community Centre
Vimy Ridge Memorial Park
Waverley Heights Community Centre
West Kildonan Memorial Community Centre
Westdale Outdoor Pool Spray Pad

The remaining five spray pads will open on May 26:

Fort Rouge Park
Gateway Community Centre
Lindenwoods Community Centre
Lindsey Wilson Park
Sturgeon Heights Community Centre

Three new spray pads are scheduled to open in summer 2018:

Freight House Spray Pad
Valley Gardens Community Centre Spray Pad
Old Ex Spray Pad

Outdoor Pools

Kildonan Park Outdoor Pool and Transcona Aquatic Park are anticipated to open on Friday, June 15. All other City of Winnipeg heated and unheated outdoor pools are anticipated to open on Friday, June 29.

All outdoor pools will operate seven days a week, weather permitting. Contact 311 or visit City of Winnipeg – Outdoor Pools for pool hours and amenities.

Wading Pools

The 81 City of Winnipeg wading pools are anticipated to open on a staggered basis beginning Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2.
