Winnipeg, MB – To accommodate the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party, along with associated set-up and take-down, the following streets will be closed from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 until 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2:
- Southbound Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue
- Northbound Smith Street between the Millennium Library Parkade entrance (approximately half a block north of St. Mary Avenue) to the back lane just south of Portage Avenue (to accommodate access to the Radisson Hotel parkade.)
Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes such as Main Street and Osborne Street.
As a result of the street closure, the Donald Street entrance to and exit from the Millennium Library Parkade will not be accessible from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 until 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2. All vehicles will need to enter and exit through the Smith Street entrance. The Millennium Library will be closing early, at 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 1.
Winnipeg Transit buses will be rerouted off of Graham Avenue from Carlton Street to Garry Street on Tuesday, May 1 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the end of service to accommodate an expected increase in pedestrian traffic.
Bus Stops along Graham Avenue eastbound between Hargrave Street and Garry Street will be temporarily relocated to northbound Fort Street at Graham Avenue. Bus stops along westbound Graham Avenue between Smith Street and Edmonton Street will be temporarily relocated to westbound St. Mary Avenue at Donald Street and to northbound Edmonton Street mid-block between St. Mary and Graham Avenues.
The Handi-Transit loading zone on southbound Donald Street at Graham Avenue will be temporarily relocated to eastbound Portage Avenue next to the Radisson Hotel.
