City continues back-in, angled parking pilot on Bannatyne Avenue during winter months

Released: January 2, 2018 at 12:15 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Since July 24, 2017, the City has been testing back-in, angled parking stalls on the south side of Bannatyne Avenue between Rorie Street and Waterfront Drive to increase on-street parking spaces in the Exchange District.

By changing the parallel parking stalls to back-in, angled parking, 10 additional parking stalls were added to this section of Bannatyne.

Feedback was gathered from stakeholders and the public through an online survey during the summer months. The City is now asking for feedback on using back-in, angled parking in the winter through an online survey.

The pilot project is part of a City Council directive to explore innovative on-street parking solutions for the Exchange District with the aim of increasing the available number of on-street parking spots.

It is anticipated the Public Service will provide a recommendation on back-in, angled parking to the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works in the spring.
