City seeks community feedback on North District police station siting

Released: October 26, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is in the planning stages of building a new North District police station, to replace the existing station #13 located at 266 Hartford Avenue, as part of its transition to a four district police station model. The Winnipeg Police Service’s Four District Model will be achieved with the addition of the North District station.

The existing station #13 does not meet current needs, and the building itself is not adequately located to handle growth in the north end of the city.

The project team has been meeting with stakeholders in the project area so their concerns can be considered and addressed in the site selection process.

The Old Exhibition Grounds site has been identified as a suitable location for the station in terms of service delivery. A community workshop will be held on November 14 to gather further feedback from the community.

Community Workshop
Date: Tuesday, November 14
Time: 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Location: North Centennial Recreation & Leisure Facility, 90 Sinclair St.

For those who are unable to attend the community workshop, an online survey is available to gather further public feedback on the project.
