5,000 Canada 150 tulips to bloom across Winnipeg to celebrate Canada's birthday

Winnipeg, MB - This week it is expected that 5,000 Canada 150 tulips, the official tulip for Canada's 150th anniversary, will come to life in flower beds across Winnipeg. These tulips were planted by the City to acknowledge and celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.

The Canada 150 tulip’s elegant white bloom with red flames bears a striking resemblance to our maple leaf flag. The tulip displays are part of a larger Canada 150 celebration that will see 300,000 tulips blooming across the nation this spring.

The National Capital Commission (NCC) has partnered with the Kingdom of the Netherlands and other organizations across Canada for the selection and distribution of the Canada 150 tulip. Canada 150 tulips which bloom in the colors of the Canadian flag symbolize gratitude and the long-standing friendship between Canada and the Netherlands, and will bring both pride and joy to gardens and communities from coast to coast.

Downtown Winnipeg

  • Waterfront Drive

East Winnipeg
