City of Winnipeg spray pads to open for the first long weekend of summer

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is inviting citizens to enjoy community spray pads as they begin to open on the May long weekend, starting on Saturday, May 20.

“What a great way to kick off the first long weekend of summer!” said Mike Pagtakhan, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services and Parks. “We are lucky to have a number of affordable options for summer fun in our city, including a wide range of outdoor pools, spray pads and wading pools. I hope everyone will enjoy these amenities in the coming summer months.”

Spray Pads
The City’s unsupervised spray pads are a great way to spend a hot summer day. Spray pads across the city will open on May 20 for the Victoria Day long weekend. Spray pads will operate until the end of August/early September at the following locations:

  • Central Park
  • Fort Rouge Park

  • Lindenwoods Community Centre
  • Lindsey Wilson Park
  • Machray Park
  • Park City West Community Centre
  • Provencher Park
  • Shaughnessy Park
  • St. Norbert Community Centre
  • St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool
  • Sturgeon Heights Community Centre
  • Vimy Ridge Memorial Park
  • Waverley Heights Community Centre
  • Westdale Community Centre
  • West Kildonan Memorial Community Centre

Outdoor Pools
City of Winnipeg heated and unheated outdoor pools are scheduled to open on Friday, June 30. All outdoor pools will operate seven days a week, weather permitting. Contact 311 by phone at 311 or by email at , or visit City of Winnipeg - Outdoor Pools for current pool hours and amenities.

Wading Pools
Fourteen City of Winnipeg wading pools are open on Saturday, July 1. All other wading pools will open the week of July 2. For operating schedules and more information on wading pools, please visit City of Winnipeg - Wading Pools or contact 311, available by phone at 311, or by email at . Operating hours vary by wading pool; however, most will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
