Bulletin #1 - City of Winnipeg weather related service updates

Released: January 12, 2017 at 11:15 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Due to blowing snow and extremely cold temperatures, some City of Winnipeg departments are experiencing service delays and interruptions.

Garbage collection is temporarily suspended as full garbage trucks are unable to safely offload at the Brady Road Resource Management Facility in reduced visibility (more information below).

Handi Transit clients are being asked to please cancel any non-essential trips planned for today (more information below). Winnipeg Transit is experiencing minor delays and we recommend that Transit users allow for extra travel time.

City crews are monitoring the road network and will be spot plowing to address areas prone to drifting. Sand will continue to be applied to address slippery conditions. As winds diminish, a full city-wide sidewalk clearing operation will be required.

Motorists are urged to drive to road conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near any snow clearing equipment.
