Winnipeg, MB - Due to the overnight snowfall, a truck plowing operation on main routes, bus routes and collector streets is currently in progress. Sidewalk plowing is also underway and a major load and haul operation is continuing. Sanding of all streets will continue to improve traction.
The City’s Public Works Department is monitoring road and sidewalk conditions and further decisions will be made throughout the day.
Avoid a ticket and tow
The City's Annual Snow Route Parking Ban is in effect from 2:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. nightly until March 1, 2017. Snow routes are clearly marked with signs like these:
Snow routes are a top priority for snow clearing to ensure that emergency vehicles can navigate quickly and safely around the city. It’s important that vehicles are not parked on snow routes overnight in order to enable rapid and efficient snow clearing of these critical routes.
Vehicles parked in violation of the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban can receive a $100 ticket ($50 if paid early), and may be towed to the towing company’s compound.
Stay Back, Stay Safe
Motorists are urged to drive to road conditions, and to use extreme caution when driving near any snow clearing equipment or sanding trucks.
