Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Public Library is teaming up once again with Call2Recycling, Canada's national consumer battery stewardship program, to launch a competition for Waste Reduction Week, October 17 to 23, 2016.
Winnipeg Public Library branches will compete to see which branch can collect the most household batteries for recycling during national Waste Reduction Week. The library that collects the most weight in batteries will be awarded a prize by Call2Recycle and declared “Winnipeg Waste Ace”. Used batteries weighing up to five kilograms each and cell phone with or without batteries, regardless of make, model or age will be accepted.
Batteries can be dropped off to any Winnipeg Public Library location for recycling. Libraries also accept batteries and cellphones for recycling year-round. To find your nearest Winnipeg Public Library branch, please visit winnipeg.ca/library.
The winning library and holder of the “Winnipeg Waste Ace” title will be announced mid-November 2016.
