Released: September 22, 2016 at 11:08 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Renovations to the outdoor Transcona Kinsmen Centennial Pool, located at 1101 Wabasha Street, are moving ahead. The outdoor pool is scheduled to reopen to residents in summer 2017.

All construction is anticipated to be completed to allow for opening to the public by the end of June 2017. The grand opening of the new outdoor faculty is scheduled for Canada Day, Saturday, July 1, 2017.

A major component of the construction involves converting the existing outdoor pool into an outdoor aquatic park facility. Most of this work will be completed this fall, including excavation, piles, concrete, spray features and mechanical/electrical work. Other features being renovated in this component include:

  • A new beach entry with spray features
  • A new four-slide water slide feature with landing pool
  • New 82- by 46-foot pool with diving boards
  • New pathways, seating areas and landscaping

Work is also underway on the new outdoor pool building, approximately 3000 square feet, which features:

  • Universal access washroom/change room
  • Accessible washrooms
  • Exterior access change rooms
  • Locker facilities
  • Mechanical and electrical rooms for the outdoor pool
  • Storage space

We would like to thank everyone, especially the residents and children of Transcona for their patience on this project. For more information on City of Winnipeg aquatics facilities, please see City of Winnipeg - Recreation & Leisure Services.
