Mayor Bowman to Attend the International Downtown Association Annual Conference and Tradeshow

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman will be attending and participating in the International Downtown Association (IDA) 62nd Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Atlanta, Georgia this week.

The IDA Conference and Tradeshow is a gathering of innovative leaders who are helping to shape cities around the globe. The event features urban planning professionals and leaders who meet to discuss industry trends, share best practices, and learn the latest tips of the trade.

“As Winnipeg’s population grows toward one million people strong, we can benefit from learning how other growing cities from around the globe are managing growth as well as the opportunities and challenges that come with it,” said Mayor Bowman. “As well, I look forward to promoting Winnipeg as a place to live, visit, and invest in as we look for more potential partnerships that could benefit Winnipeg.”

Mayor Bowman is also planning to meet with key business and governmental stakeholders including Consul General of Canada in Atlanta, Louis Blais.

The IDA Conference and Tradeshow runs from September 7-9, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s theme “Progress Through Partnership”, embodies Atlanta’s approach to achieving impact, embracing trends, and solving problems that face downtowns and urban districts around the globe. Last year’s event in San Francisco featured over 875 delegates from South Africa, Sweden, Hawaii, Ireland, Germany, UK, Bahamas, Tokyo, Mexico, and over 150 from Canada.
