Seniors get your reloadable peggo card now!

Winnipeg, MB. - Starting today, Winnipeg Transit’s reloadable peggo card will be available for seniors to purchase and start using.

Seniors can purchase peggo cards in person at 97 locations across the City. These include all 7-Eleven and Shoppers Drug Mart stores as well as 18 other independent and City of Winnipeg outlets. Cards are also available for purchase online at WinnipegTransit.com or by calling 311. Senior peggo cards are green in colour.

peggo is convenient and easy to use. Users may preload their cards in person at any Transit retail agent, online at WinnipegTransit.com, or by phoning 311. To use your peggo card simply tap your card against the peggo card reader on the farebox, wait for the beep, and go.

peggo will be rolled out in phases. Seniors will be the first group to use their peggo cards starting July 4th, followed by full fare and youth passengers on August 8th.

During the launch period passengers will still be able to use paper passes and tickets. Winnipeg Transit encourages passengers to use up their paper tickets before switching over to peggo.

There are two types of fares which can be loaded onto peggo cards:

  • e-passes - replace paper passes and are valid for an unlimited number of trips during a set number of consecutive days. Transit offers e-passes that range from 24 hours in length all the way up to an annual pass.
  • e-cash - replaces paper tickets. Riders can load e-cash onto their peggo cards. e-cash fares are then deducted from the card when it is tapped on the farebox. When paying with e-cash, a 75-minute transfer is automatically loaded onto the peggo card so paper transfers are no longer required.

Riders will still be able to pay cash for fares.

peggo cards can be purchased for $5. However, for a limited time when riders purchase their peggo card and use it within 90 days of purchase, the $5 will be refunded to the card as e-cash.
