We’re hiring over 2,000 people to help ensure voting runs smoothly this October.

Planning is well underway for the 2026 Municipal Council and School Boards Election – and we need help. To ensure voting runs smoothly this October, we’re looking to hire over 2,000 temporary workers.

These roles are essential in supporting local democracy. We’re hiring both Election Day workers for October 28 and staff to help operate voting locations during advance voting from October 5 to 25.

What we’re looking for

It takes a team to run each of our 184 voting locations. We’re hiring people to greet voters, check their ID, operate automated voting machines, and more.

If you’re a quick learner, pay attention to detail, and can follow detailed directions, this might be for you. Be prepared for a long day, as shifts are at least 13 hours. You’ll also need to attend a mandatory training session in advance.

How to apply

If this sounds like a great fit and you’re ready to apply, complete the online application form.

Please be patient. Successful applicants will be contacted between mid-August and the end of September. We’ll then confirm the information you provided and ask a few more questions.

You don’t need to be eligible to vote to apply. However, you must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in Canada.

While we thank everyone who applies, only those selected will be contacted. Those hired are not City of Winnipeg employees.
