Salting operations continue on Winnipeg streets, truck plowing to commence

Released: January 14, 2015 at 4:10 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - With the light snow and stronger winds received and continued warmer temperatures that have been forecasted, the City has continued the salt application on the Priority 1 (Regional) and Priority 2 (Collector/bus route) networks.

In addition to the salting operations, the City will also be truck plowing areas of slush and spot grader plowing the softened compacted snow throughout the evening on our Priority 1 network.

This operation will continue onto our Priority 2 network late evening and into tomorrow morning.

This operation will be continuous and will assist in removing any freshly fallen snow along with compacted snow on the pavement. High winds may create localized drifting conditions and these areas will also continue to be addressed.

The focus will be on restoring bare pavement on our Regional and Collector Network.

Stay back, stay safe
Motorists are reminded to drive to road conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near any snow clearing equipment or sanding trucks.

Only the regular Snow Route Parking Ban is in effect at this time, meaning parking is prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on streets displaying “Snow Route” signs.
