We’re getting ready for you to head to the polls later this year. Work is well underway for the 2026 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election.

Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballot for the offices of Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustee on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Official 2026 election website launched

“While Election Day is still 10 months away, it’s important to start sharing information now so people can understand what is involved with running for public office,” said Sherwood Armbruster, Senior Election Official.

That’s why we just launched the official 2026 election website. It’s a hub of information on everything from the nomination process for interested candidates to voter eligibility, legislation, and more.

“Whether you are a first-time voter, or want to be on the ballot, we hope you take the time to check out the website and learn more about the upcoming election,” said Sherwood Armbruster, Senior Election Official.

The website will continue to be updated as we get closer to Election Day.

Our City, Our Podcast

Election Day is the biggest single day initiative we put on and takes around 2,000 temporary workers.

Armbruster explains what goes on behind the scenes of an election on Our City, Our Podcast. This episode was released in January 2026.
