Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Public Library is pleased to announce Maureen Winnicki Lyons as the next Maker-in-Residence at the Library.
Formerly a free-range farm kid, Winnicki Lyons has 25 years of experience in art and craft in Manitoba. She has amassed an unmatched collection of 200+ breeds of wool that she uses in her art and in the classes she teaches at WOOL MOUNTAIN at ARTlington Studios.
Winnicki Lyons applies an obsessive curiosity towards fibres and natural dyes, applying her ever-expanding knowledge of the medium throughout her artistic practice. She has taught thousands of people of all ages through hundreds of classes around the province. Her creative blending of a variety of fibre craft and artistic techniques creates fresh and unique pieces, highlighting fibre as a versatile and exciting medium.
Winnicki Lyons is the final of the three makers who will share expertise with the public in 2026. Her term will run from September 14 to December 10, 2026.
The Maker-in-Residence program runs out of the ideaMILL at Millennium Library. It offers Winnipeggers weekly drop-in opportunities to get creative with maker-led activities, learn about fibre art, and develop new skills. The maker also offers workshops at library branches throughout the city.
