Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two house fires on Pritchard Avenue this afternoon.
Pritchard Avenue fire #1
At 2:40 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters initially entered the house and launched an interior fire attack. Due to deteriorating conditions, they were forced to exit and transition to an exterior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:33 p.m.
Crews searched the house and no occupants were found. Residents from the neighbouring house were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
Due to structural concerns and to ensure all hot spots are extinguished, WFPS is arranging an emergency demolition.

Pritchard Avenue fire #2
At 4:54 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. They entered and fought the fire from the interior, declaring the fire under control at 5:39 p.m.
Firefighters searched the house and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.
Damage estimates are not available. The house was previously damaged by fires in March 2025 and July 2025.
The fire is under investigation.
