Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires in vacant properties last night.
Pritchard Avenue fire
At 12:27 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. They entered and fought the fire from the interior. The fire was declared under control at 1:15 a.m.
Firefighters completed a search of the house and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
Burrows Avenue fire
At 3:29 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. They launched an offensive fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:59 am.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.
The fire is under investigation. The house was previously damaged in a fire in September 2022.
