Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Maryland Street and Laura Street

Winnipeg, MB – Last night, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires.

Maryland Street fire

At 10:27 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, WFPS responded to a fire in a boarded and vacant building in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

At the scene, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 10:54 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.

The structure had previous damage from fires in December 2024October 2024 and September 2024.

Laura Street fire

At 2:44 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 200 block of Laura Street.

At the scene, firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 3:36 a.m. Firefighters searched the building to ensure there was no one inside.

No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Vacant Properties

Call 9-1-1 if you see someone actively entering a vacant building or removing boards from a building’s windows or doors.

If you notice boarded windows or doors that have been breached, but you do not see someone actively entering or trying to enter the building, report the incident to 311 by phone or online.
