Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Released: October 1, 2024 at 8 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:24 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a two-storey multi-family residential dwelling in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

Smoke was coming from the structure when crews arrived at the scene. They entered the building and launched an offensive fire attack, using handlines to apply water to the fire. It was declared under control at 4:56 p.m.

Residents of the dwelling evacuated before crews arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was called to help displaced residents find temporary accommodations.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
