About Call2Recycle
The genesis of Waste Reduction Week occurred in the mid-1980s when like-minded local government and environmental organizations in Canada first began collaborating to improve environmental awareness. Since 2001, the week became a branded national initiative and is now an annual event. Organizers and participants in include schools, businesses, non-profits, individuals and government departments from each of the 13 participating provincial and territorial jurisdictions across Canada.

“After the success of the “Winnipeg Waste Ace” contest in 2013, we are delighted to partner with Winnipeg Public Library once again to create more awareness around battery recycling and to keep batteries out of the Winnipeg landfills, “said Delphine Lagourgue, Regional Director, Call2Recycle. “It is important for people to realize just how easy battery recycling can be with so many convenient locations where they can drop them off.”
