Nobody likes being stuck in traffic, and we know how frustrating it can be when you encounter a construction zone. But it’s important to slow down, remain respectful, and follow the rules of each construction site.
This year, we’ve heard that’s not always happening.
Road work crews are increasingly dealing with disrespectful and often downright dangerous behaviour from some aggressive drivers.
In some cases, people have ignored barricades and driven into active construction sites, coming extremely close to crews doing their jobs. Workers have also been yelled at, called names, and blasted with exhaust from diesel truck operators deliberately idling.
Everyone involved in road work is out there doing the best they can to make the roads better for all of us, and they deserve to feel safe while doing their job and be able to go home at the end of day.
So please be patient and respectful.
Consider building in extra travel time and having a podcast or music queued up in case you do get caught up in construction.
