Winnipeg, MB – Visitors to the Exchange District will soon have a bit more time to attend class or check out a museum. On October 1, on-street paid parking time limits will increase from two hours to three hours on the following blocks:

  • RRC Polytech Exchange District Campus Area

    • Princess Street, west side – from Elgin Avenue to William Avenue
  • Manitoba Centennial Centre for the Arts Area
    • Market Street, south side – from Main Street to Rorie Street
    • Lily Street, east side – from Elgin Avenue to James Avenue
    • Lily Street, east side – from James Avenue to Rupert Avenue
    • Lily Street, west side – from Market Avenue to Rupert Avenue
    • Rupert Avenue, north side – from Main Street to Martha Street
    • Rupert Avenue, north side – from Martha Street to Lily Street

“One of the most frequent complaints we hear about is parking time limits in the Exchange District,” said Vivian Santos, Councillor for Point Douglas. “We’re pleased to introduce these extended limits in select areas so that visitors can spend a bit more time enjoying the incredible amenities the District has to offer.”

The City will pilot the new three-hour parking times for one year to measure impacts on parking availability.

Visitors can pay for parking using:

  • The PayByPhone app
    • Extend your parking time up to 30 minutes through a separate transaction in the PayByPhone app, for up to three-and-a-half hours total
  • Prepaid Parking Booklets, available at several locations in Winnipeg

The existing option to extend parking an additional 30 minutes will remain.

Visitors can park for free with no time limits during weekday evenings (after 5:30 p.m.) and all-day Sunday. There will be no change to Saturday paid parking hours, as visitors can already park for up to four hours (two hours for free, combined with two paid hours).
